The position is that my Department have approved, in principle, an application from the Town of Wexford Vocational Education Committee for the development of the vocational school there. The question of the physical education facilities to be provided is being considered in the context of the overall development of the school.

A decision has been taken in principle to extend Poulfur national school, County Wexford, by an additional classroom. The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to furnish a report on the feasibility of the proposal. It is not possible at this stage to say when the extension will be built.

Title to the site for the proposed new school at Rathgarogue, New Ross, County Wexford, has recently been accepted as satisfactory by my Department. As the estimate of cost of the scheme was submitted some years ago, an up to date estimate has been sought from the Commissioners of Public Works. When the estimate has been received the appropriate grant will be sanctioned and the usual formal letter in that regard will be sent to the school chairman. It is not yet possible to say when building work is likely to start.

The question of placing a contract for the extension to Rosslare Strand national school is at present under consideration. A decision in the matter will be made as soon as possible and the school chairman will be notified without undue delay.
