Vol. 345 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

312.

asked the Minister for Education when persons (details supplied) in County Meath will be provided with free transport to which they are entitled to Kilbeg national school, County Meath, as the road passenger manager for the area has submitted his report to her Department for decision.

Application for transport to Kilbeg national school was made on behalf of the children concerned at the end of September, about one month after the commencement of the current school year. The present transport routes to Kilbeg national school were organised on the basis of applications received before 31 August 1983. No spare accommodation is available for those children at present because the service in question is catering for a capacity load of eligible children. I understand that accommodation may become available for one of the children after 1 January 1984. To cater for them immediately would necessitate the operation of a special trip of a mini-bus which could not be justified on grounds of expense.
