The most recent review by my Department indicates an increase in the numbers leaving primary school in Kilnamanagh which is considerably outweighed by the fall-off occurring in the numbers leaving primary schools in the nearby Greenhills and Walkinstown areas.
The three existing schools in Greenhills and Walkinstown (with a combined pupil capacity of 2,500) will be well able to accommodate all post-primary pupils from Kilnamanagh.
For this reason it has been decided not to proceed for the present with the provision of a new post-primary school in Kilnamanagh.
A meeting with representatives of the Kilnamanagh Post-Primary Committee will be arranged shortly to discuss the matter.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give the following information regarding the school site at Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, County Dublin which is in the ownership of her Department; (1) the date of acquisition by her Department; (2) the price paid; (3) the category of school for which the site was acquired; (4) if it is intended to proceed with the provision of a school on this site and if so when; and (5) what the catchment area of a school built on this site would be.
My Department bought a site for a post-primary school in Kingswood Heights in two separate transactions in December 1978 and March 1980, respectively. The practice of my Department is not to divulge the prices paid for particular sites. Decisions have not yet been taken as to when a school may be built on the site, the form of management such a school would have and the area which it would serve.
