An Bord Iascaigh Mhara, in consultation with my Department and Údarás na Gaeltachta, has been involved in ongoing consideration of various proposals for the establishment of fish processing projects in Rossaveel, County Galway, which have been submitted since January 1982, by the firm in question. The board's primary objective in its consideration of the firm's proposals is the development of a viable processing undertaking at the port which will provide sustainable employment and assist the expansion of the fishing industry in the area. To this end the board is to have further meetings with the firm's principal in the very near future.
