Vol. 345 No. 9

Written Answers. - Milltown (Dublin) Crime and Vandalism.

321.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the incidence of crime and vandalism in the Ramleh area of Milltown, Dublin 6, he will outline the steps he intends to take to combat the situation (details supplied).

Limerick East): The precise arrangements made for policing particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities. They report that a review of the police needs of the Ramleh area of Milltown, which is part of the Donnybrook Garda sub-district, was carried out in recent weeks, following discussions which took place between an inspector from Donnybrook station and a representative of the local residents association. The Garda authorities consider that the area is receiving as much Garda attention as practicable at present from both foot and mobile patrols. In addition, the special crime units based at the Dublin Metropolitan Area Headquarters have been directed to pay attention to the area.

The Deputy can be assured that the police needs of the Ramleh area will be kept under review by the Garda authorities and will be further considered according as the additional manpower being recruited becomes available for assignment to the various centres.
