Vol. 345 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

225.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will be informed of the decision on her application for a house improvement grant.

My Department are awaiting information which has been requested from the local authority, who formerly owned the house, before deciding on this grant application. The applicant will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible.

226.

asked the Minister for the Environment if further payments of a new house grant under the old scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The applicant in this case applied in March 1977, for a grant under the old scheme of new house grants and an instalment of £200 was paid on 14 February 1979. The balance of the grant cannot be paid, as it is a statutory condition for payment of the grant that work on the house must have been completed before the 31 December 1978, and my Department notified to this effect and the balance claimed by 31 January 1980.

227.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant and the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible. Payment of the subsidy cannot commence until the grant has been paid.

228.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

There has been no delay in my Department in dealing with this case. The applicant was requested to submit further documentation in support of his application for a new house grant. When this documentation is received an inspection of the house will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.
