Vol. 345 No. 10

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

234.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, as he has been told by his Department that installation will take place in two years time, when his next-door neighbour has been informed that installation will take place within the next month.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. However, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed before the first half of next year.

There is no record that the applicant was advised by my Department that installation would take two years. Telephone service has recently been offered to a neighbour who applied earlier than the person named and for whom cabling is available.

235.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be supplied in an area (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Courtnacuddy is not included in this years programme. It will be considered for inclusion in a further programme.

236.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for persons (details supplied) in County Wexford as they are two old age pensioners with a disabled son.

Service has been provided for the persons named.

237.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the persons named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information, for example, when and where the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

238.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will expedite the installation of a telephone for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 as she lives alone.

Service will be provided for the person named as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed until next year. I very much regret the delay. However, by the end of 1984 the vast bulk of applications will be met on demand.
