Vol. 345 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Account.

17.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the case made by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5 regarding his telephone rental for the period October-December 1983 and telephone calls for the period July-September 1982 is reasonable; and if he is prepared to make the adjustments to the original bill as requested.

The subscriber in question queried his telephone account for the fourth quarter 1982 which showed comparatively heavy use of the direct dialling facility in the period July-September 1982. The equipment metering his calls was checked and a letter was sent to him on 30 May 1983 informing him that there was no evidence of any technical fault and maintaining the account. The matter has been reviewed but no reason is seen to modify the account. Separately, the subscriber reported that his phone had been out of order for a period in October-November 1982 — not 1983 as stated by the Deputy — and a rebate for the period he was without service is being arranged.
