I have not in mind at present the introduction of licence fees for coarse fish and trout angling. I understand, however, that the Central Fisheries Board, on which regional fisheries boards and trout and coarse fishing interests are represented, have been considering the desirability of introducing such licence fees and I am likely to receive proposals in the matter in the near future. Amending legislation would be required before the fees in mind could be introduced. The purpose of the arrangement would be to provide additional funds towards the cost of developing inland fisheries.
