Vol. 346 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

311.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in having a public telephone kiosk erected to service the Kent Terrace and the Ballyarra Terrace area, Castlelyons, County Cork which now has a total of 40 per cent of the population of Castlelyons parish.

The provision of a kiosk to serve Kent Terrace and Ballyarra Terrace areas of Castlelyons is not considered warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

312.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the failure to erect a telephone kiosk to serve the large catchment area of Curaghalla, Kilworth, County Cork; and when a kiosk will be provided there.

Curaghalla is not included in this year's programme. It will be considered for inclusion in a future programme.

313.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. However, it will not be possible to meet this application until necessary additional engineering work is carried out.

The objective of the Department's current telephone development programme is to provide a fully satisfactory telephone service nationally in terms of both quality and availability by the end of 1984 and it is expected that service will be provided for the person named within the next six months.

It was expected that service would be provided earlier. Unfortunately it was not possible to do so because of the need to divert staff to other urgent work.
