asked the Minister for the Public Service the date from which the increase under the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1983 have, or will be, paid to persons in receipt of pensions payable to former holders of ministerial office, widows of former office holders, and former Attorneys General; and the amounts payable to each person in receipt of such pensions, following the application of the Act.

As announced in the Dáil when the Bill was being debated, adjustments to pensions of former holders of ministerial office, widows of former office holders, and former Attorneys General will apply with effect from 1 September 1983 without retrospection.
This is also the date from which the first phase of the present Public Service pay agreement is being applied to Public Service pensioners. The adjustments will be in accordance with the rates provided for in the legislation.
