Vol. 346 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medical Card.

311.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6, who has a medical card, has to pay for domiciliary visits.

Medical cards issued in 1982 to those holding contributory pensions were reviewed in January 1983 in accordance with the guidelines set down for determining eligibility. As a result of this review the individual concerned was found to have an income considerably in excess of the guidelines and was accordingly notified by the health board on 3 March 1983 that his medical card was withdrawn. Any charge for general practitioner services since that date is a matter between the individual and his doctor and the health board have no liability.

312.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in allocating a grant towards the cost of constructing a unit for autistic children at Laurel Park, Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am at present awaiting clarification of some aspects of the proposal by the Western Health Board. When this is received I will consider the possibility of assisting the project from the limited capital funds at my disposal.
