asked the Taoiseach the names of all people appointed by the Government to State and semi-State boards and to other agencies and organisations under his aegis since 1 January 1983; their ordinary occupation; and the remuneration which they will receive from their appointments.

I propose to circulate with the Official Report a statement giving the particulars requested.

National Planning Board — The National Planning Board was established on 18 March 1983 and the following members were appointed by the Government: Professor W. J. Louden Ryan (Chairman), Professor of Political Economy, TCD; Dr. Helen Burke, Lecturer in Social Policy, UCD; Mr. Harold O'Sullivan, General Secretary, Local Government and Public Services Union; Mr. Denis Brosnan, Chief Executive, Kerry Co-Operative Creameries; Mr. T. P. Hardiman, President of the Confederation of Irish Industry; Professor Brendan Walsh, Professor of the National Economics of Ireland and Applied Economics, UCD; Mr. Joseph McCabe, Chairman, Irish Ropes.

The board members are not remunerated but their parent organisations are entitled to be recouped for the time they spend on work for the board.

National Economic and Social Council — There are 15 members of NESC directly appointed by the Government, but only one of these was appointed since 1 January 1983. Mr. D. Turpin, Secretary of the Department of the Environment, was appointed in May 1983 and he receives no remuneration in connection with this appointment.
