Vol. 346 No. 9

Written Answers. - X-Ray Refusal.

459.

asked the Minister for Health the reason an X-ray was refused to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, despite a letter of recommendation from her doctor.

I have made inquiries with the hospital authorities concerned. The situation to which the Deputy is referring arose from difficulties experienced by the radiology department at Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, in coping with the demand for X-Rays. As the area in which the child resides is outside the catchment area of Harcourt Street Hospital, the authorities there felt that the child would be more appropriately dealt with at Crumlin. Following discussions between Crumlin hospital authorities and my Department, the difficulties have now been resolved. I understand that the child in question was X-rayed at Crumlin hospital on 7 December 1983.
