Vol. 346 No. 10

Written Answers. - Land Registry Dealing.

441.

asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made on a dealing with the Land Registry (details supplied) in County Galway.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for first registration based on long possession. It was received in the Land Registry on 18 March 1983.

I indicated in reply to a similar question from the Deputy on 5 July 1983 (Official Report, Volume 344 No. 7 column 1527) that applications of this kind involve detailed and complex examination of title and often protracted correspondence, and that the average time-span for completing such applications is unlikely to be less than 12 months. The position is still substantially the same. If in a particular case hardship is caused by the absence of registration details might be given by the applicant or the applicant's solicitor to the registrar who would then see if something could be done. But priority can be given to one case only at the expense of others.
