asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding Ashbourne primary school, County Meath; when a site will be acquired; and when work will commence.

The present position regarding the all-Irish national school at Ashbourne, County Meath, is that reports from the Commissioners of Public Works and from the Commissioner of Valuation in regard to the site proposed for the permanent school building are under consideration by my Department with a view to further local negotiations on the question of acquisition. The outcome of these negotiations will be conveyed as soon as possible to the chairman of the school's board of management. I am not in a position at this stage to say when work on the permanent school building may commence.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the second level school in Ashbourne, County Meath; when the site will be purchased; and the time scale before building commences.

Negotiations for the purchase of the site are proceeding and every effort is being made to have them completed by the earliest possible date.

Architectural planning will be commenced immediately on acquisition of the site. It is not possible to state at this stage when construction of the school will be commenced.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding a school (details supplied) in County Meath; if building will commence in 1984; and, if so, the expected completion date.

Architectural planning of the proposed new school referred to by the Deputy is proceeding. My Department now await the submission of finalised detail design proposals for the project by the school authorities.

The question of when construction may commence cannot arise for consideration until the planning process has been completed.
