asked the Minister for Justice the number of nullity petitions issued in the High Court in each of the last five years; and the number of decrees of civil annulment which were granted by the High Court, or on appeal by the Supreme Court, in each of those years.

One decree of civil annulment of marriage was granted by the Supreme Court in the year 1979. No record has been found of any other such decree by the Supreme Court in the period in question.

The figures marked with an asterisk supersede figures given to the House in reply to Questions 322 of 10 June 1980 and 318 of 22 October 1981, which have been found to be incorrect.
