I propose to take Questions Nos. 384 and 385 together. In December 1982 I allocated funds to the Brothers of Charity for the employment of three staff for their hostel in Gort.
I regret that due to the current lack of development funds and restrictions on recruitment to the public sector I have not been in a position to assist the workshop development at Gort and similar community services established by the Brothers of Charity at Carraroe and Castlerea. The possibility of supporting these proposals will be considered as sympathetically as possible as resources become available to me for new services for mentally handicapped people.
