The unemployment benefit claim of the person concerned was disallowed on the grounds that he did not satisfy the contribution condition during the relevant contribution periods.
A new benefit year commenced on 2 January 1984 and as he had sufficient contributions in the period 6 April 1982 to 5 April 1983 his claim has been authorised at the appropriate rate of £56.10 weekly. All benefit due to date has been paid and further weekly payments will continue as they become due.

The person concerned is at present in receipt of unemployment assistance at £35.50 weekly being the maximum rate payable to him £73.60 less means £38.10. Means in his case are derived from the capital value of a house not personally used by him.
If he is dissatisfied with the amount of means assessed against him it is open to him to appeal and to have his means determined by an appeals officer. A form for this purpose may be obtained at his local office.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason unemployment assistance was disallowed in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.
The unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed on the grounds that, following an investigation of his case, his means derived from the profit from his land and from capital exceeded the statutory limit. He appealed against the amount of means assessed against him but an appeals officer upheld the assessment of his means as being in excess of the statutory limit and he was notified accordingly.

The unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed on the grounds that by failing to supply details of self-employment in which he was engaged he failed to show that his means did not exceed the statutory limit.
He appealed against the disallowance and his case was referred to a social welfare officer to call on him and to afford him a further opportunity of disclosing full details of his earnings from self-employment. The social welfare officer recently completed his inquiries and the case has been referred to an appeals officer for determination. His entitlement to unemployment assistance will be reviewed in the light of the decision of the appeals officer.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is not receiving the correct rate of unemployment assistance.
Following a re-investigation of his unemployment assistance claim the means of the person concerned were reassessed at £53.80 weekly derived from the profit from his land. He appealed against the amount of means assessed against him and an appeals officer reduced the assessment of his means to £28.85 weekly with effect from 17 August 1983. He was accordingly entitled to unemployment assistance at £54.10 weekly increased to £58.15 from 5 October 1983 and all arrears due were paid to him on 21 December 1983.
Weekly payments at £58.15 continue to be made to him as they become due.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.
The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit on 19 October 1983. Her claim was authorised at £34.80 weekly being the maximum rate appropriate to her case. All unemployment benefit due to her has been paid and further weekly payments will continue as they become due.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason only £32.00 unemployment benefit has been paid after three weeks signing to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; when this case will be rectified; and the amount of money that will be paid in the future.
The claim to unemployment benefit of the person concerned has been authorised at £97.80 weekly which is the appropriate rate in his case. Three waiting days were imposed from 24 November 1983 and inadvertantly he was paid £32.60 instead of £48.90 for the remainder of that week. The matter was later corrected and all arrears of unemployment benefit were paid to him.
Pay-related benefit has been authorised at £37.22 weekly from 15 December 1983. Further combined weekly payments of £135.02 flat-rate unemployment benefit and pay-related benefit will continue to be paid as they become due.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the basis on which an income in excess of £3,720.60 p.a. was assessed in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.
The means of the person concerned were assessed on the basis of his earnings from self-employment on the building and construction work. Following an investigation of his case by a social welfare officer his earnings were estimated at £4,680.00 per annum and as this amount exceeded the statutory limit applicable to him £3,720.60 per annum his unemployment assistance claim was disallowed accordingly. He appealed against the amount of means assessed against him but the assessment of his means was upheld by an appeals officer. He has not signed as unemployed at his local office since 31 May 1983.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the position regarding the application of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo for unemployment assistance.
Following a review of his unemployment assistance claim the means assessed against the person concerned were reduced from £5.00 weekly to £1.35 weekly. His means are derived from the value of board and lodging on his parents' holding. All arrears of unemployment assistance due to him were paid on 3 January 1984 and weekly payments of unemployment assistance at £28.05 being the maximum rate payable to him £29.40 less £1.35 means continue to be made as they become due.
If he is dissatisfied with the amount of means assessed against him it is open to him to appeal and to have his case determined by an appeals officer. A form for this purpose may be obtained at his local office.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the non-payment of three years' disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 28 January 1981 to 21 September 1981. She reported that she did not receive a number of cheques which issued at the commencement of her claim. The paid cheques have been forwarded to an outdoor officer of the Department who will visit her and allow her to inspect the signatures on the cheques. On receipt of his report any further necessary action will be taken.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is not being paid his unemployment benefit.
The person concerned does not satisfy the contribution condition for entitlement to unemployment benefit on the basis of his Irish contribution record.
Under the provisions of EEC regulations his British contribution record may be invoked following his resumption of employment in this country. He has been asked on numerous occasions to furnish details of his employment since he returned from Great Britain but to date he has not replied. When he does so his entitlement to unemployment benefit on the basis of his British contribution record will be determined.
He received unemployment assistance at £55.55 weekly from the commencement of his claim on 31 October 1983 to 14 December 1983 after which he ceased to sign as unemployed.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have unemployment benefit paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.
Availability for work is a condition of entitlement to unemployment benefit and to fulfil this condition an applicant must be capable of, available for and genuinely seeking employment.
The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit on 10 March 1983 and her claim was disallowed on the grounds that she was not available for work. She appealed against this disallowance and attended an oral hearing of her case on 28 June 1983. The appeals officer upheld the disallowance and she was notified of the decision on 29 June 1983.
She ceased to sign as unemployed after 5 July 1983.

The person concerned was assessed with means at £23.75 derived from the value of board and lodging in his parents' home. He appealed against the amount of means assessed against him but an appeals officer upheld the assessment of his means at £23.75 weekly and he was notified accordingly on 3 January 1984.
Weekly payments of unemployment assistance at £5.65 being the maximum rate payable to him £29.40 less £23.75 continue to be made to him as they become due.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to pay disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
The person concerned was disallowed payment of disability benefit from 29 November 1983 following an examination by a medical referee who expressed the opinion that he was capable of work. He appealed against the disallowance but has not submitted medical evidence of incapacity since 29 November 1983. He has been advised to submit medical certificates for the period from 29 November 1983 if he considers himself to have been ill and incapable of work since that date. On receipt of the medical evidence, arrangements will be made to have his claim reviewed.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment assistance will be resumed in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
The unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed from 7 September 1983 on the grounds that he failed to disclose his means fully to a social welfare officer. He appealed against the disallowance and his case was referred to a social welfare officer for additional inquiries in the light of contentions made by him in support of his appeal. These inquiries have now been completed and arrangements are being made to have his case determined by an appeals officer. His entitlement to unemployment assistance will be reviewed in the light of the decision of the appeals officer.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a pension will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.
The person concerned, who is in receipt of a widow's contributory pension at the maximum personal rate of £40.60 weekly, reported early in October 1983 that her pension book had been mislaid with the order for 30 September 1983 uncashed. Before payment could be made to her in respect of this order it was necessary for An Post to confirm that it had not been cashed by them. They have now done so and a payable order for the week in question, less supplementary welfare allowance paid to the widow by the Southern Health Board at that time, will be sent to her within the next few days.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for the immediate payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
In his claim to disability benefit the person concerned indicated that he had been last insurably employed in the United Kingdom. Under the EEC Regulations on Social Security his claim was, therefore, the responsibility of the Department of Health and Social Security, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Accordingly, his claim and medical evidence were transferred to the UK anthorities on 1 June 1983. Also transferred was an Irish insurance record, in his name and under the RSI number quoted by him, showing 11 Class A contributions paid in respect of the 1980-81 year.
The Department of Health and Social Security were not, however, satisfied that the claimant was last insurably employed in Britain and requested recently that his Irish insurance record for the 1980-81 year be investigated. When this was done the person concerned stated that he had never been employed in this country and that the 11 contributions for the 1980-81 contribution year may be proper to another person of the same name and address. This information has been sent to the Department of Health and Social Security and that Department will be in touch direct with him.

The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit from 10 October 1983 but his claim was disallowed from 16 October 1983 on the grounds that he was not available for employment. He appealed against the disallowance and attended an oral hearing on 6 December 1983. The appeals officer upheld the disallowance.
His case was reviewed from 7 December 1983 and has been allowed at the maximum rate of £34.80 weekly. All arrears due have been paid and further payments will continue as they become due.

The contribution conditions for receipt of death grant are not satisfied on the contribution record of the deceased. A social welfare officer will shortly visit the claimant concerned to see whether additional contributions may be due and she will be advised of the outcome when inquiries have been completed.

The person concerned was assessed with means at £17.00 weekly derived from the value of board and lodging in her parents' home. She is accordingly in receipt of unemployment assistance at £11.00 weekly being the maximum rate of £28.00 weekly less £17.00.
