Vol. 347 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

180.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax rebate was refused to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 13 as she became unemployed on 7 February 1981.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the refund could not be processed because corroborative particulars of pay and tax from an earlier employment were not available and the matter was not followed up either by the taxpayer or the inspector in the meantime.

Although the information has not yet come to hand the inspector of taxes has now carried out a review of the liability for 1980-81 and a cheque in settlement of the amount overpaid, on the basis of the provisional review, will be issued at an early date. The case will be re-examined when the missing information is received.
