asked the Minister for Labour the provisions that have been made by AnCO for redundant apprentices in the Ballyfermot area, Dublin; the provision that exists or is planned to provide short industrial type skill courses for unemployed young people in the Ballyfermot area either by AnCO or by AnCO in co-operation with others; and the extent of redundancy/unemployment among young people in the Ballyfermot area who might avail themselves of such courses.
Written Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Redundant Apprentices.
(a) AnCO provides 76 places at its Ballyfermot Training Centre, 35 places on local community youth training programmes and eight places on training assignments in companies for redundant apprentices. The corresponding annual throughput is 195, 75 and 20 respectively. (b) In addition redundant apprentices from the Ballyfermot area may be catered for at other training centres or on other training activities outside Ballyfermot. For example, 102 places are available for redundant apprentices on block release courses at Dublin colleges of technology. (c) The following industrial skills type courses are planned for AnCO's Ballyfermot Centre during 1984.

These figure include the throughput referred to in paragraph (a) above. (d) In addition AnCO's External Training Division will provide suitable short-term courses in 1984 for young people in the Ballyfermot area. Details in respect of further external training courses have yet to be finalised. (e) At the end of December, 1983, a total of 1,981 young persons aged under 25 years were registered with the Ballyfermot NMS Office. At registration these young people were advised of the training courses available.
