Vol. 347 No. 6

Written Answers. - Asbestos Pipes Health Danger.

213.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement to satisfy public concern regarding health dangers, if any, due to the fact that asbestos cement pipes can be used by contractors under the standard specification (details supplied) laid down by his Department for group water supply schemes.

I have no evidence to suggest that any of the pipes which are provided for in the specification, viz., PVC, Polythene, spun-iron and asbestos cement are in any way unsuitable for inclusion in that specification under which an Irish standard is specified for the first two and a British standard for the remaining two.
