Vol. 347 No. 6

Written Answers. - Central Mental Hospital.

241.

asked the Minister for Health if he will sanction the proposals of the Eastern Health Board to provide half-way accommodation in the former Governor's residence for patients in the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum, Dublin, prior to their discharge.

At present because of the need to carry out urgent alterations in the main hospital building in the Central Mental Hospital the Eastern Health Board have found it necessary, as a temporary measure, to take over the former governor's residence as alternative accommodation for administrative staff. In the circumstances the residence would not be available for use for patients because of the alterations which I understand will take several months to complete. I will review the proposal in regard to the provision of a halfway accommodation upon completion of the present building work.

242.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make the necessary capital available for the installation of a perimeter security system at the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum, Dublin, as requested by the Eastern Health Board.

No decision has yet been taken about the installation of a perimeter security system at the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum, but if it should be considered as essential the necessary capital funds will be made available.
