Vol. 347 No. 7

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

326.

asked the Minister for Labour if redundancy payments have yet been paid to ex-employees of a firm (details supplied) in County Carlow as they were made redundant recently.

On 30 January 1984, 25 employees were paid their full statutory lump sum entitlements amounting to £28,795.18 on foot of claims received on 19 December 1983. Payment was made from the redundancy fund as the employer claimed inability to pay on the grounds that he was insolvent.

A further 36 claims have now been received in the redundancy payments section of my Department. These claims are being processed at the moment and payment will be made to the employees concerned within the next two weeks. Any further claims that may be received will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
