asked the Minister for the Environment the number of families on the waiting list for houses at Dundalk Urban District, Louth County Council and Drogheda Corporation at 31 December each year for the past five years; if the categories involved on the housing list of the three local authorities are (a) married couples, with families, (b) single persons and (c) people who would qualify for housing in old persons' dwellings.

The numbers of approved applicants for houses, as at specified dates in each of the years 1979 to 1982 inclusive, are set out below. Details in respect of 1983 have been requested by my Department, but are not yet available.
I do not have the information regarding the categories mentioned by the Deputy, for the years up to 1982, but a revised questionnaire on housing needs as at 31 December 1983 provides for the submission of such information.
