Vol. 347 No. 13

Written Answers. - School Transport.

383.

asked the Minister for Education the reason the school bus service in an area (details supplied) in County Wexford was so erratic; and the steps being taken to ensure a proper service.

The information given by the Deputy is not sufficient to identify the particular service in question. I may also add that the day-to-day operation of the school transport service is the responsibility of CIE and that representations in regard to matters of detail of the operation of a particular service should be brought to the attention of the local CIE office in the first instance.

384.

asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that the present school transport facilities will continue to be provided for children in an area (details supplied) in county Galway.

The question of the transport arrangements for the children in question is under investigation by my Department with particular reference to the requirements of the handicapped child. I shall be in communication with the Deputy as soon as the investigation is completed.

385.

asked the Minister for Education if she will consider the provision of school transport for persons (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is not a sufficient number of eligible children in the Leitirmóir na Coille locality offering for transport to warrant the provision of a special transport service under the terms of the school transport scheme.
