The embassy at Rome has been in consultation with the defence lawyer for the citizen as to the ways in which the embassy can best be of assistance. The embassy has made representations to the Italian authorities that the citizen concerned be allowed return to Italy to face the trial, which is due to take place on 13 April. The embassy has also requested that the Italian authorities inform the citizen that this permission is being granted in sufficient time to allow the citizen to make arrangements to return.
