asked the Minister for the Fisheries and Forestry if he intends to reorganise and rationalise staffing within the various State and semi-State bodies concerned with the administration and management of inland fisheries, following the enactment of the Fisheries Act, 1980.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 420 and 421 together. As required by section 32 of the Fisheries Act, 1980, negotiations on a proposed staff scheme for the staff of the central and regional fisheries boards are well under way between my Department, the central fisheries board, the regional fisheries boards and the unions concerned.
In consultation with the Minister for the Public Service I am examining also the staffing position of the fisheries division of my Department and of the Central and Regional Fisheries Board. I will consider the matter further when the outcome of the examination is known.
