There are nine community welfare officers employed in the Cavan-Monaghan community care area. Of this number three officers are employed in County Monaghan. In 1983, 2,651 cases were dealt with in County Monaghan and 4,242 cases were dealt with in County Cavan.

One post has been left unfilled as the health board authority are satisfied, having regard to other priorities, that the present complement meets the needs of the area.
