asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will reconsider his decision to cut back on allocations to fishery boards in 1984 as otherwise it will be impossible for these boards to provide fishery protection services and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The allocations to fisheries boards in any year depend on the amount voted in the annual Estimate for my Department. Due to the present economic situation it has not been possible to finance the boards to the degree requested by them. However, I am confident that with prudent management of the funds provided the boards can continue to provide adequate fishery protection services.
