Vol. 348 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry ACOT.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will allocate extra funds to Kerry County Committee of Agriculture (ACOT) to operate their business in County Kerry as it is not in a position to function if it has to finance all its schemes.

I have already approved an allocation for 1984 of £18,198, which is an increase of 12 per cent on 1983.

I have been informed by the CAO there that they have not sufficient funds to implement all the schemes or to function properly as an ACOT organisation in Kerry. Would the Minister consider having their allocation increased?

There are very few committees or bodies for that matter that have as much funds as they would like. I might point out that Kerry has been granted additional moneys in 1984, way above what anybody else has received, moneys that have been diverted from other areas which are in a better financial position.

Is the Minister satisfied with the workings of those ACOT committees at county level?

This question refers to County Kerry only.

Yes, by and large I am quite happy. I think they are doing a good job.
