Vol. 348 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cross-Border Feasibility Study Proposal.

359.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is prepared to meet representatives from the cross-Border group consisting of representatives of Foyle development, Strabane Rural District Council and County Donegal regional development organisation, in relation to carrying out a feasibility study for the cross-Border region; and, if so, when such a meeting will take place.

I regard with considerable interest the proposal made by the Foyle-Donegal-Strabane Co-ordinating Group for an integrated operations feasibility study in the area.

The issues involved in the proposed study involve a wide range of Government Departments and my Department are in consultation with Departments with a view to formulating our position in the matter.

The co-ordinating group is aware of this. My intention is to meet the organisations involved as soon as these consultations are complete.
