Vol. 348 No. 11

Written Answers. - Cleaners' Pay.

397.

asked the Minister for the Environment the conditions and hourly rates of pay of office cleaners used in his Department; and whether such cleaners are directly employed by his Department; or by an outside agency.

The Department employ some cleaners in a temporary capacity whose conditions require attendance of up to 42 hours a week. Their gross pay is £106.61 a week. Some offices occupied by the Department are cleaned by contract cleaning firms and the conditions of staff employed by these firms are not a matter for my Department.
