The Office of Public Works was originally requested by the Department of Education to report on works required to the playspace at Lettermullen national school, County Galway. The school was inspected recently and a report was prepared for submission to the Department of Education recommending improvements to the playspace and provision of car parking facilities and a recessed entrance.
However, on 9 March 1984 the Department of Education asked the Office of Public Works to undertake a comprehensive examination of the school as the manager had expressed concern at the structural condition of the building. It will now be necessary to examine this and draw up proposals for any repairs and improvement works considered necessary. This will be done at an early date and a recommendation made to the Department of Education as to the sanction of a grant.
