The statutory preliminary steps in the preparation of a drainage scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the Monaghan Blackwater are proceeding and I expect the scheme to be before my Department for confirmation in a few weeks. I have had no indication from the Northern Ireland authorities of any change in their plans to commence the outfall works this year.
