2. All the figures are in Irish pounds, converted by using EUROSTAT average yearly currency conversion rates.
3. The source of population figures for all countries, except Ireland, is EUROSTAT Demographic Statistics, 1981. The population figure used is the estimated mid-year population for each country for the relevant year. For Ireland, the source of population figures is the census of population, 1979 and the Central Statistics Office population estimates for 1978 and 1980.
