asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money allocated to the Border Counties under the Commission (80) (528) allocation for tourist orientated projects; the amount of money spent each year on each programme in each Border county; the total amount of money spent to date; and if it is anticipated that all the money will be utilised during the lifetime of the fund.

The total amount allocated by the Commission to the Border counties for the Border Areas Programme was 16 million ECU. This amount was in respect of the total programme which is largely tourist orientated.
An initial payment of 30 per cent of the 1981 commitment to the programme was made in 1981 and thereafter the non quota section commitment is paid as expenditure on the programme is reported to the Commission.
The payments from the non quota section of the ERDF to date are as follows:
