asked the Minister for Education when a full reply to Parliamentary Question No. 590 dated 18 January 1984 regarding the boards of management of national schools in County Meath that have made application to the Department for financial assistance will be provided.

I have already dealt with the position in regard to general maintenance work which the Deputy raised in Parliamentary Question No. 590 dated 18 January 1984.

Because of the on-going nature of the correspondence which passes between national school authorities and my Department, it is difficult to ascribe applications for financial assistance towards the building of new national schools or extensions to existing national schools to a specific year. I am, therefore, setting out for the Deputy a list of the projects and their locations in County Meath in respect of which applications for financial assistance were under active consideration or as in the case of projects under construction, where financial assistance was being provided.

It is not the practice of my Department to give in relation to individual projects the amount of finance paid, such information being regarded as confidential as between the school authorities and the Department.
