Vol. 349 No. 2

Written Answers. - Income and Youth Employment Levies.

433.

asked the Minister for Health the reason the income and youth employment levy presently being demanded by the health boards from farmers who have submitted farm profile forms to the inspector of taxes throughout the country, are not being dealt with by the income tax offices.

Questions relating to the 1 per cent income levy and the youth employment levy are matters for the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Labour, respectively. The situation, however, is that while these levies are at present being collected by health boards from full-time farmers, arrangements have been made to transfer responsibility for collecting the levies to the Revenue Commissioners with effect from 6 April 1984. It was not feasible to effect this transfer from an earlier date.
