asked the Minister for the Public Service if the superannuation rights of persons who take part in the job-sharing scheme in the public service will be protected.
Written Answers. - Job-Sharing Scheme.
The provision in relation to superannuation in the pilot job-sharing scheme which I have introduced in the Civil Service is:
Job-sharing staff will be eligible for superannuation benefits on the same basis as full-time staff, save that each year of service given in a job-sharing capacity will reckon as six months service for superannuation purposes. Pensionable salary will be based on full-time salary.
The extension of job-sharing to the wider public service in the first instance would be a matter for the Ministers directly concerned. In the event of job-sharing schemes being introduced, I would expect that job-sharers would be subject to the entitlements and obligations imposed by the superannuation schemes applying in the areas concerned.
