asked the Minister for Education the number of primary schools that benefit from full-time secretarial assistants; and the number that benefit from part-time secretarial assistants.

Clerk-typists employed in national schools and in secondary schools under the scheme of grants administered by my Department are all full-time employees. The number of national schools in which a clerk-typist is wholly employed on service to the national school is 141. A further 311 national schools benefit from the services of clerk-typists which they share with secondary schools.

asked the Minister for Education the total number of primary schools with non-teaching principals and teaching principals.

On the basis of school returns received in respect of the 1982-83 school year there were 687 non-teaching principals and 2,713 principals engaged in teaching in national schools.

607.

asked the Minister for Education the total number of primary schools in Ireland; the breakdown of the number of schools with one to seven teachers individually; and the number of schools with more than seven teachers.
