Vol. 350 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

548.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and when it will be paid.

There has been no delay in my Department in dealing with this case.

This applicant was requested in May 1981 and again in March 1983 to submit further documentation to support his application. When this documentation is received, the file will be sent to my Department's inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.

549.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

There has been some delay in my Department in dealing with this case. My Department's inspector has, however, been requested to arrange a further early inspection by appointment with a view to payment of the grant.

550.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons that a new house grant and mortgage subsidy have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the amount of each to be paid; the date on which they will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A grant could not be paid in this case until an inspection established that the house was complete and occupied. This inspection was carried out recently and a grant of £1,000 will be paid shortly.

Payment of the maximum of £750 in respect of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be made when the new house grant has been paid and when the applicant submits the appropriate claim form duly certified.

551.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider his decision in the case of a grant application from a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The application for a new house grant was refused in this case as it was not received in my Department within 12 months of the date of occupation of house as required under Article 11 (1) of the Housing Regulations 1980. However, the applicant has now been requested to submit additional documentation in support of his application. Further consideration will be given to his application when this documentation is received.
