asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if there are proposals before his Department for the transfer of some of the forestry lands in the Killarney area to the Office of Public Works; if so, if he will give an assurance that there will be no redundancies amongst the forestry employees; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In accordance with a recent Government order certain areas of the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park, Killarney, which had been made available to my Department for State afforestation purposes are being surrendered to the Commissioners of Public Works. The necessary transfer arrangements, including staff re-deployment aspects, are being worked out between the Department concerned but it is still too early to say what the final outcome will be.
