1. The source for these figures is "EurostatBasic Statistics of the Community", 1982-1983 edition.
2. In all cases the figures refer to the year 1979 which is the most recent year for which comparative data are available in respect of all ten countries.
3. The figure given for Ireland is the total number of medical practitioners working in the country. It is not quite clear if the definitions used for other countries in the Eurostat publication are the same. The comparability of the above figures may therefore be open to question.
