Vol. 350 No. 2

Written Answers. - Housing Priorities.

541.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, under the scheme of letting priorities under section 60 of the Housing Act, 1966, a deserted wife is classed as a two parent family in the same way as a single parent for the allocation of local authority housing.

As stated in my reply to Question No. 559 of 2 May 1984, it is a matter for each local authority to allocate their dwellings in accordance with the terms of the scheme of letting priorities made by them. The classification of particular categories of applicants, such as is envisaged in the question, is a matter for consideration by the local authority in making or amending their scheme.
