Vol. 350 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pension Tax Deduction.

549.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason so much tax is being deducted from the pension of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that, on the basis of the information available to the inspector of taxes, the taxpayer is not liable to income tax for the current year. It is regretted that tax was, in error, deducted from the taxpayer's retirement pension for April 1984. However, arrangements have been made to include in his pension warrant for May a refund of tax corresponding to the amount which was deducted last month.
