Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

540.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Finance when a certificate of tax-free allowance and a refund of tax due, will be issued to a person (details supplied) in Ballyshannon, County Donegal.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a certificate of tax-free allowances for the current year, 1984-85, was issued to the taxpayer on 18 May 1984. Any tax which may have been over-deducted from his earnings since 6 April last is refundable to him by his employer when that certificate is put into operation. The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer for the details necessary to carry out a review of his liabilities for earlier years. When the required information is supplied the taxpayer's affairs will be brought up to date.
