Vol. 351 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

Questions Nos. 1 and 2 postponed.

A Cheann Comhairle, before you commence Question Time, could I give notice that I wish to raise——

I made a ruling the other day that I do not take anything before Question Time, the reason being that there is an allotted time for questions. The Deputy may say to me that he is raising one matter only, but sometimes we have 15 matters of this nature and this would erode Question Time.

I wish to raise a matter on the Adjournment.

I was asked to admit that the other day and I did not accept it.

I thought there was a time limit after which it was not permissible to raise a matter on the Adjournment.

The time limit is 4 o'clock.

We are confined to——

The Deputy is not confined. I wish he would not say that. Question Time extends from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and if I allow ten or 15 minutes to people who want to raise matters at this time this would erode Question Time.

The same thing would apply to any matter on the Order of Business. There is a time limit for each item.

Question Time is a limited time. I cannot give one ruling today having already given another the other day. I hope the Deputy appreciates that.

I bow to your ruling.
