Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Departmental Computer.

12.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the computer which was purchased recently by his Department including its cost; if an Irish-manufactured computer was purchased; and, if not, the reason.

I am not clear what the Deputy has in mind as my Department have not purchased a computer.

Have the Department hired out a computer or are they making use of a computer?

No. My Department have not hired out a computer.

The Department of the Environment do not make use of any computer?

The Department have not got a computer. They have not purchased one. The question asked the Minister for the Environment to give details of the computer purchased recently by his Department. We have not purchased any.

I accept it may not have been purchased but was it hired out?

We may use the services of some other computers but I am not aware of our purchasing one.

Does the Department not use them in Shannon in the driving licence centre?

That is for the local authority.

It is operated by the Minister's Department.

We have not purchased a computer. That is what the Deputy's question was about.
