Written Answers. - County Donegal Schools Reconstruction.

asked the Minister for Education the schools in south west Donegal which are due for improvement reconstruction/replacement; and when it is expected that work will commence in each case.

The information requested by the Deputy is given in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated with the Official Report. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when work might commence on any particular project.

Following is the statement:

Proposed Post-Primary Buinding Projects in South West Donegal

(i) Extensions: Mercy Convent, Ballyshannon Loreto Convent, Letterkenny Vocational School, Donegal Town.

(ii) Replacements: De La Salle, Ballyshannon Vocational School, Ballyshannon Vocational School, Letterkenny Vocational School, Stranorlar.

Tenders for the construction of the extension to Donegal Town Vocational School are being processed. All other projects are in course of planning. In each case the question of when work may commence will be reviewed, when the planning process has been completed.

Proposed Primary School Building Projects in South West Donegal

(i) Extensions: Creevy, Cashel, Carrick, Killybegs (Nial Mór), Donegal (Aodh Rua), Laghy, Fintra, Keelogs.

(ii) New Schools: Barnesmore, Ballydevitt, Killybegs (Commons).

The projects at Creevy and Cashel are at the tender action stage. Barnesmore is at the detailed design stage. The remaining projects are at the sketch scheme or earlier stages of planning.
